In response to God’s calling for reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18), REACH exists to serve the people of the Great Lakes region of Africa in supporting their journey towards healing, reconciliation and sustainable development. The ministry of REACH was started by Rev Phibert Kalisa in 1996 following the genocide of 1994 when up to a million people were killed in 100 days. Since then Rwanda has moved from a small largely unknown African country to one well known and observed on the international stage. Over the last years, inline with the vision, REACH have developed many programs working together with perpetrators and survivors of the genocide (and their families) to offer them capacity building programs. We have realised the following to date:
The director of REACH has had the opportunity to share the ministry of REACH through many speaking events in other countries including UK, US, Japan and at the Lausanne Congress in South Africa in 2010.
Partner organisations have made visits to the ministry in Rwanda.
